BEST Valentine’s Day present EVER! I took my 99th wooden grain elevator in Alberta that day. High Level is the Northern most grain elevator that I know of. This still looks to be very much in use still. Very odd that it’s got the new orange Pioneer logo complete with the yellow top of the “i” while wearing the classic turquoise Alberta Wheat Pool paint.
Well, I think that’s my swan song for Alberta wooden grain elevators. It’s been a blast and had taken me to the far reaches of Alberta. Yes, there are other wooden grain elevators worth visiting left e.g., Radway, Kitscoty, Vermilion, etc, but I think 99 is an auspicious number for me to say good bye to this chapter of my life. 99 in Chinese culture symbolizes forever, eternity, stuff that lasts a long time in general… hopefully there’ll always be wooden grain elevators in Alberta be it preserved as a museum or by private persons on their little farm somewhere. I’ll always look back on these road trips fondly.
Thanks for looking!
